#1 What skiing ability is required to join Edmonton Freestyle Ski Club

Minimum Requirements(All Levels)

  • be able to load and ride chairlift unassisted
  • be able to make small, medium and long round turns
  • be able to match skis (i.e. not remain in a snow plow) on a green run
  • be able to keep balance and link turns in small bumps and powder


JNB (Age 6-9)

  • be able to perform the minimum requirements.
  • No freestyle experience required.


Freestylerz (Age 9-12)

  • be able to perform the minimum requirements.
  • must be a strong parallel skier
  • competent in all conditions (ice, fog, powder etc.)


Development Team (Age 12+)

  • To be able to perform the minimum requirements.
  • Must be a strong parallel skier
  • Competent in all conditions (ice, fog, powder etc.)


#2 What is the minimum age to enrol in EFSC?

The youngest age is 6 years old. Whatever the age of an EFSC athlete, he or she must be able to perform the minimum requirments before enrolling in the program.

#3 What is my financial commitment to join Edmonton Freestyle Ski Club?


  • Registration Fees
  • Required Fundraising - may be subject to change throughout season depending on budget requirements
  • Competition and Camp - May include or exclude the following: Event fees, Coaching Fees, Accommodations, Mileage, and Mounatain lift tickets. All competitions and camps are optional.
  • Equipment - Twin tip skis, approved helmet, goggles, team jacket (optional purchase), and ESC hill lift pass.


#4 Is it mandatory to compete?


It is optional for all JNB, Freestylerz and Club athletes to compete and attend training Camps. Provincial athletes MUST be prepared to participate in all AFSA sanctioned competitions chosen by EFSC Head Coach for the calendar competition year. This is to ensure that both the EFSC provincial athlete and EFSC Club build our allocated spots through the years.


#5 What is the EFSC Provincial Team?

Each season the Head Coach and his/her assistant Club coaches evaluate the higher level athletes to make up a provincial team. All provincial athletes chosen will be contacted by the EFSC Head Coach in early season.

#6 Is it mandatory to attend mountain camps?

It is optional for all JNB, Freestylerz and Club athletes to attend training camp. However, it is strongly recommended that athletes choosing to compete in early season competitions to be ready and should attend early season training camp.

#7 What is my CFSA Membership?

All freestyle athletes in a club must hold a current Canadian Freestyle Ski Association Membership. This is a nominal fee that provides the athlete with insurance coverage for training and at competitions.  For further information please visit the
